The NBA has signed AT&T as the next official wireless sponsor. This multi-year sponsorship tips off at the 2019 NBA All-Star game in Charlotte, NC at Spectrum Center, home of Michael Jordan‘s Charlotte Hornets, on Sunday, Feb. 17. The carrier will also be featured as the title partner for the Slam Dunk contest on Saturday, Feb. 16.
AT&T has snagged the title of being the official wireless sponsor for the league from long-term rival Verizon, although Verizon will continue to sponsor the league.
The deal allows AT&T to promote its brands across all facets the league, including the Women’s National Basketball League, NBA G-League, NBA 2K League, and USA Basketball. An AT&T spokesman says the company intends to work with NBA to advertise across all of its marketing channels, as well as market products such as 5G when it becomes available.
